Incorrect voice message reporting speed cameras

Hello,

For some time now, the voice alert when approaching a speed camera has been indicating an “average speed control zone”, which does not reflect reality at all (it is a speed camera at a specific location, not a zone, and certainly not average speed).

Additionally, I’ve found it very frustrating for a long time now to have a “control zone” alert THEN a “speed camera” alert AND yet another “leaving control zone” alert.

Is it possible:
1/ To have the incorrect text updated?
2/ To adjust the alerts to remove some of them in the app?

Hello FG63,
The staff is aware of the issue; they have already looked into it (or are currently investigating), and the fix will be implemented in the upcoming app updates. Just a little more patience!

You can follow the bug report that was opened for this (if you have access: [FR] Wrong translation for radar section).

Safe travels, or happy editing

Hi,
Can I ask where you got this information from?
In the other ticket discussing the same issue, it’s been dragging on for weeks with no sign of progress [FR] Wrong translation for radar section - #20 by TOMHTML
Thanks in advance

Hello,

Currently, the bug is ongoing and many people are affected, whether they are on the Beta or the Standard version. Unfortunately, we don’t have the access to fix this ourselves; we are waiting for the staff to take over and resolve the issue.

Thank you for the report; it will help move things forward

I can confirm that these issues with poorly worded speed camera alerts have been around for a while now. As for me, with the beta app, I’m getting a ton of alerts for a single turret camera. Average speed camera, average speed, zone entry and exit. None of the alerts are actually relevant and they’re quite intrusive…

I don’t know what the situation is with the production version of the app, but I’m dreading it if these alerts make it to the prod version as well.

It’s been well over a year that we’ve been bombarded with loads of announcements for every single speed camera…
“Entering enforcement zone” / “Speed camera” / “Leaving enforcement zone” and often “Police” reported by other drivers.

Personally, the “leaving enforcement zone” message is completely useless.
Worse! It can encourage some drivers to speed up and go back over the speed limit.

If we keep the “zone” message (to get around the law banning speed camera alerts), then we might as well REALLY remove the message that indicates the speed camera… Especially since a visual indicator already lets you pinpoint it.

I don’t understand this obsession with over-reporting speed cameras.

Instead of these useless messages (one would be enough), we should be working on flagging dangerous zones.
For example, listing areas flagged as prone to frequent black ice, with an announcement that would only trigger when the weather shows a temperature below a certain threshold (5°C, for instance, to allow for a little margin).

We could also work with the authorities to list the most accident-prone areas (a threshold would need to be set, of course).

And we could even push it to include a warning (at least a visual one) for various “hazards” like wildlife areas, hiker crossings, degraded roads, etc.
