I’m not sure if Waze is programmed to take advantage of some advantages from the Millsboro bypass.
I live off Iron Branch Road at Iron Pointe Drive, and frequently travel north using Rt 113.
The most direct and convenient route would be Iron Branch though downtown Millsboro ( State Street) onto Betts Pond Rd to Rt 113 North.
Yet Waze does not use that route, it will direct me to take a left onto Old Landing Road down to 113, making me sit through multiple traffic lights.
Same when returning home, it does not direct me to take the turn for the Millsboro bypass (Rt 24).
Can any of you very smart people help Waze change its logic?
I ran routes between those two points using 8:30 monday morning as a reference. The more direct route you specified shows an average time of 8:15 to get to 113. The route Waze gives is 6:12. So it may seem faster to go direct but it’s slower. At least at that time.
If you give me your usual time to head north I can rerun it for that time.
I think the shorter route to 113 ends up faster due to higher average speed over the distance.
You must have hit the turn at Old Landing and the light at 24 Business at the right time. I’ll test it a few times and see.
I’ll bet you the return south is quicker than hitting the lights and making the left across traffic that Waze usually tells me to make at Old Landing.
