[Page update] Communication platforms

Hello!

A couple of the links in the Discord server list on this page were broken (for NOR and VEOC):

While looking at the contents of the

https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Communication_platforms

page, it became pretty evident that most of the information contained in here was also contained in

https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Discussion_Forums

The Communication platforms page is a bit more general, and it seems we could combine these 2 pages into the Communication platforms page and eliminate the Discussion Forums page. If this seems like a good route to take, we’ll just need to decide what from the Discussion Forums page should find its way over to the Communication platforms page.

For the various sections of the Communication platforms page, perhaps the following:

Waze Map Editor Chat
All of the text could be used from the Communications platform page.

Discord
This section does not exist in the Discussion Forums page, so it will be left as is.

Waze Forum
Combining information from both pages:

Official announcements and community discussion forums

The Waze Forum is a good source of information and a good place to pose map editing questions. Waze uses a third party product called phpBB for the forums. You may browse the forums as a guest, but you must login using your Waze username and password to post a message. Logging in also allows:

New message indication icons
First unread message links
Private messaging (PM) with other users
Topic subscriptions (you receive emails when a new post is made)

The forums support Tapatalk for iOS and Android.

The forums also provide an RSS feed if you prefer to monitor updates that way.

The forums have a search facility, but do not index certain common words. If that is a problem you can follow these instructions to search the forum using Google.

When appropriate, finding your region and state’s section of the forum can provide the best local guidance. In addition, Private Messages (PMs) can be sent to a particular forum user in lieu of posting publicly. After signing in, at the top left a new message indicator shows how many unread private messages are available. Clicking this will bring up the private inbox, where messages can be read and sent.

Google Hangouts (GHO)
Because this is not heavily utilized by the US community, this could potentially be left as-is in the Communication platforms page.

Slack
Because this is not heavily utilized by the US community, this could potentially be left as-is in the Communication platforms page.

An IRC section exists in the Discussion Forums page that could potentially be omitted from the Communication platforms page.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I also do not want to create a duplicate thread.

Hopefully someone can respond to Jushag soon.

The IRC (which stands for Internet Relay Chat by the way) rooms no longer seem active, and there is indeed a lot of overlap between the two pages Jushag mentioned.
