Our Places wiki indicates that we should add the Google Maps place to Waze PPs to enhance search results and point them to the Waze entry. I am proposing amending that guidance to also include the address pin from Google. I’ve been thinking about this for some time and I’ve seen plenty of successes in search and navigation with this addition.
With theAddress search hierachy pyramid, I don’t see enough of a benefit to add something to the wiki about it. IMO, there is not need to add them to every place. I have no issues with adding the link on a case by case basis to resolve URs, but not as a general guidance.
I would be more likely to support something like this (although not 100% sure I like it)
To me it seems like where a business has its own address, and also where a business is the main place for an address (like a big traditional mall that shares its address with all the tenant stores) getting Waze to redirect the address search to the business place will pretty much always be more useful than redirecting them to a RPP or HN. It would both provide more information about their destination and give a sanity check that they searched the correct address for the expected destination. So I’m not sure why we should restrict this to edge cases where needed to solve URs. The current proposal reads as optional to me. Maybe there’s a way to soften the language to make it feel more optional?
I would be willing to compromise if the language works for me. IMO, I want it real clear it is optional and also real clear that multiple businesses using the same address shall not be done.
What about addresses where there’s one “umbrella” place with other places nested under it, like big traditional malls and airports? Tenant businesses may use the address of the mall or airport, but users looking for the address would expect to be navigated to entries for the main or umbrella place.
A lot of these places could have multiple entry points. This allows address searches, in addition, to take advantage of multiple entry points here.
