The city of Edmonton has posted photo radar locations online, how can we get this into Waze? This will help drivers to slow down and avoid speeding tickets. I tried to report police hidden but it doesn’t stay long on the map.
As photo radar in Edmonton is deployed as a “mobile” solution, the only appropriate way to mark them in Waze is by reporting “Police (hidden)” when they’re there.
All of the mapped red light cameras (aka fixed photo radar locations) are mapped in Waze.
Yes I tried doing that but it disappeared in an hour. Is it possible to have these police reports stay permanently as photo radar is frequently on site and this will help drivers to slow down and avoid a ticket.
No.
Photo radar is not that “frequent” - it seems to sit in a single location for about an hour or two, then move on.
The Police (hidden) will stay longer as more people give the report a thumbs up. If people start saying “not there”, then it disappears more quickly.
I am looking for an app that will warn me of potential photo radar whether it’s there or not. And since the city has posted these radar sites online, we should put them on Waze to help drivers. I’d rather get a false warning than a ticket.
The app sidekick has all the city photo radar sites. See attached photo.
You’re welcome to use another app. In fact, Sidekick will run in the background and still alert you if you’re using Waze.
The Waze standard has always been that mobile photo radar sites are not mapped, and we have no intention of altering this now.
For what it’s worth, for every person that would want an alert about a potential photo radar site, there are ten who don’t want an alert unless it’s absolutely there.
Of course, the real solution to the problem is to elect a city council that will remove photo radar altogether…
