Hello I have android 15, motorola edge 60 fusion phone and have problem with playing audio from phone speaker.
It does not work when Im listening to the audio book from vlc using car bluetooth audio. The wase audio is played also from cars audio even when i have correctly set up play from phone speaker in waze settings.
when i stop audio book from vlc, thewaze navigation comes from phone speaker correctly.

So summary

  • waze plays audio from phone speaker when bluetooth is connected and nothing else is played over the bluetooth. For example when listening to cars radio. Correct behaviour
  • waze starts using bluetooth speaker when the phone is playing something over bluetooh to the cars audio. Incorrect behaviour. Waze should still be using phone speaker for this

Could you please look at this and possibly fix it.

I have the same issue, xiaomi mi 11 lite / android 14. In elearlier waze versions it was working ok one of updates caused this.

Other apps - (for example Mapy.com) works fine, music is playing through speakers and instructions are played on phone speaker.

I have a similar issue on a Android 14 Moto G73, mine does play from the phone but does not play from the speaker, it plays from the earpiece and is so quiet it cannot be heard. The volume option now seems to be tied to the Bluetooth when connected, but altering this does not change the volume of the nav coming out of the phone. The only way I can get full volume from my phones speaker is to disconnect Bluetooth and hence I cannot take phone calls.

The play to speaker option seems to have changed behaviour mid 2025. The old way of working was the software regardless of what Bluetooth connection honoured the play to speaker option and in the Android volume setting had it own none Bluetooth volume slider. Now if Bluetooth is connected Waze seems to be integrated in to Bluetooth volume some how when it should not be and does not use the phones speaker as above.

To be honest not sure if this is Waze or Android Bluetooth/sound settings related but either way its more than a bit annoying and really need to be fixed please.
