I rarely lock roads myself. If my name is on a locked segment, chances are it was locked by the previous editor, or I perhaps locked it back when “locking” meant discouraging Waze from adjusting direction & geometry automatically.

The main exceptions are high-priority roads (usually freeways & major highways), and roads that have a tendency of getting the FWNB* treatment each time a new editor comes on board.

  • Fixed When Not Broken; for example, (re)split. The second time I un-split a road, I lock it.
