If I send someone a private message on here will it be delivered in the app?
No, private messages stay on the forum, the app doesn’t notify about forum activity at all.
If the person has an e-mail registered, they will also get an e-mail to let them know they got a new private message in the Waze forum.
So how do I send a locate message in the app? Someone sent me a message in the app but they’re not on my friends list.
The app isn’t really designed for messaging.
What type of message was it? Have you reported a problem somewhere and someone is asking you for more information? If so you can reply through the app inbox or in the Waze Map Editor at the location of your map problem report.
The only way to send a private message in the App is either through a friend in your friend’s list or by tapping someone’s avatar on the map. You can’t do it by knowing their username, except via the forum.
No I haven’t reported an issue. I can see the message in my inbox but can’t reply. The person beeped at me a few times over a few days previously.
No they weren’t replying to a report I posted. Like they had beeped me a few times over a few days then sent a rude private message. How do I see in map editor?
If they sent a private message through the app, those can’t be seen in the map editor or in the forum. They can only be viewed in the app.
If they sent a private message through the forum, those can only be see in your forum inbox.

Yes it shows up in my inbox but there’s no reply option
That is strange. I’m on iOS but I have to make sure I scroll to the very bottom to see the text entry and send button
This is an old thread and no longer relevant now that forum PMs are disabled. The chat via the forum is cross platform and works on forums, map editor, and app.
