Somebody needs to go and make all red light camera’s speed limit set to 0kmph… int he Waze app, any red light cameras set at the speed limit will not give audible warnings in the Apple iOS app. Yet if you run a red light with these cameras, you will get snapped and fined.
Furthermore I think all Speed Cameras should be set at a lower speed limit too so you are always audibly notified. Otherwise, you come into range of a speed camera below the speed limit, you will get no audible warning, then you will speed up just before the camera and get caught speeding as you were not aware.
I don’t think this is an issue with the Android app… Maybe the app developers need to make the iOS app the same as Android.
I remember seeing Red Light Cameras (dual Red light and speed cameras) need to be set to 0 kph to allow for Red Light Camera Warning. I am trying to find where I saw this.
All ACT red light cameras also monitor speed.
So my understanding over time and from the Wiki is that you only ever use 1 camera. You use either a Speed Camera, of which you add a speed limit, or you use a Red Light Camera.
If the Red Light Camera ALSO acts as a Speed Camera, then you ADD a speed limit figure to the Red Light Camera when you create it.
If the Red Light Camera does NOT take a speed reading, you set the speed to Blank.
The correct thing to do is change it to a BLANK, not zero, if the camera only monitors the light, not the speed at which it is broken.
If any Red Light Camera HAS a speed set, then it will only advise you if you are exceeding the set speed limit on approach. This would be an ADDITIONAL warning (Audible: RED LIGHT CAMERA AHEAD), rather than just a silent pop up if you were not exceeding the limit on approach. This would already be in addition to an “at speed limit” audible beep when hit.
Waze has the ability at the moment to “show speedometer”. Waze also has an option to alert when you are at the limit. There is also an option in the Waze app to add speed limits to roads. Using these factors, you would receive an alert when you hit the limit, as well as pop up alert (silent) when on approach and if you were Exceeding the speed limit, regardless of the Red Light Camera type (dual or single use), you would get alerted to the speeding.
The maximum speed set on the road you are using would be used to alert you.
