Road Closure - Celebration Avenue London E20 1DB

Hi there, hoping I’m doing this right:

https://www.waze.com/en-GB/livemap?lon=-0.00822&lat=51.54768&zoom=16

Celebration Avenue between Liberty Bridge Road and Cheering Lane is closed for three weeks:
24 February 2018 to 18 March 2018
for
Crane Works
Road is closed in both directions, diversions are in place.
https://www.newham.gov.uk/Pages/Services/Road-closures-and-diversions.aspx

After the closure, building works continue on the northbound carriageway only until 01 October 2018. Southbound will be open.

Then (expected to be) 01 October 2018 to 31 October 2018, the entire road is closed again for Crane Works.

If anyone is interested, it’s Europe’s largest crane being erected to help put up then take down tower cranes on the top of two residential towers.

thanks

Nick

Almost right, it’s preferable to include a permalink into WME rather than Livemap - partly because its from within WME where the closures are added, and partly because if you select the affected segments before generating the permalink, WME will then automatically select those segments for anyone else who follows the link.

WME links are generated using the same chain-link icon in the lower-right corner of the screen as in Livemap, however note that unlike in Livemap where clicking the icon then opens a popup from where you can copy the link URL, clicking the icon in WME reloads the browser tab with that link URL. If you just want to copy the link without first needing to reload the tab, you instead hover your mouse pointer over the icon and then use the OS/browser specific methods to copy the link (e.g. Ctrl+C, right-click and Copy Link Address etc.).

I’ve now added the current full closure and subsequent northbound closures to the segment you’ve described - we can keep an eye on the works progress here and adjust the northbound closure end time/add in the second full closure period later on…

I also noticed a Wazer had reported via the app a closure of the section of Celebration Avenue between Penny Brookes Street and Liberty Bridge Road. Although this isn’t described as closed in the information provided via the Newham link, its possible that it’s been closed off except for local access, to reduce the amount of northbound traffic using the Liberty Bridge Road-Cheering Lane route to get past the actual closure… Any idea if this is correct?

Regards,
Chris

Hi - thanks for the guidance, that makes sense.

Ref. Liberty Bridge Rd and Cheering Lane - yes, I’ve added notes to the WME comments to explain the sections to the north and south of the closed section. Reproduced here so you don’t have to go looking for it. Please let me know if I need to amend the process.

The next section south (grass to west, buildings / vacant land to east) the Northbound carriageway is closed. Traffic routed via De Coubertin Street. Difficult turns for Articulated lorries. Recommended route is via Waterden Rd to the A12, or Olympic Park Ave for residents.
The next section to the north (between Temple Mills Ln and Cheering Land) is closed Southbound. Traffic routed via Temple Mills Ln with traffic lights regulating the diversion. Bus Only traffic restrictions lifted for this period.

Cheers
Nick

Thanks. As I’m now following the map comment, I’ll get email notifications of any updates to it, so it’s just as easy to follow updates made there as in this thread, and it’s also then easier for other local editors to see what the reasons are for any changes being made to the map data in that area, so no need to post here as well.
