From Monday 2nd March for approx 6 months, the west-most segment of College Rod will be closed whilst developers work on a site there.

OK, I’ve added a closure for the western end of College Rd, starting 2 March and ending on the last day of August. Somebody will need to adjust to the correct end date when known. Probably best to make a fresh “editor request” post when the time comes.
Then I’ve changed Craig y Don Rd to 2-way, and input a closure for the normal direction for the same period, 2 March to end August. Again the end date will need adjustment presently.
It was my intention to also add a closure for the current “wrong” direction from now up to the end of 1 March. However, the editor won’t let me, I think because the change to 2-way hasn’t gone live yet. So I can’t close the “wrong” direction off until the change to allow it has gone live 
I’ll try and pick up the next tile update and input the closure as soon as it becomes possible. However I shall be away this weekend which probably means I shan’t pick it up for a couple of days, so feel free to nudge another L5 editor.
“Editor request” topics tend not to get looked at again after the initial flurry of activity, so I’ll make an identical post to the “roadworks” topic.

T’other Iain had the idea of moving closure requests to roadworks forum if they contained useful information…
… then it should be more clear that that’s the purpose of that forum. I thought I could do the necessary to deal with some roadworks in my neck of the woods (mostly level 1 except for the interaction with Holyhead Rd perhaps) if anyone had answered my questions.
I notice that Craig Y Don Road is 2-way already - can someone do whatever it was that Ian was going to do?

Obviously closures are a new feature and we’re just working out the best way to deal with them, particularly as they relate to roadworks. Generally speaking, the best procedure to follow is to raise a [ROADWORKS] post in the sub-forum with all the relevant details. But you would then need to raise a separate unlock request in this forum if you need it.
Most of the senior editors monitor the Editor Requests forum for unlocks that need doing. Nobody really monitors the Roadworks forum, since it’s intended to be used as a repository for information that can’t be included on the map. I see you got rather frustrated with this when you posted questions on your Roadworks thread and didn’t get an answer - I’m sorry that happened.
The idea I had (which Tim quoted above) was not really intended to be public - not that it’s a problem. I was prompted by another unlock request for some roadworks that (a) had all the necessary details in the request and (b) didn’t have a corresponding post in the Roadworks forum. It occurred to me that, as a moderator of the UK forums, I could re-title and move the request to the Roadworks forum, instead of asking the requester to start another thread. Whilst it saves time and I would certainly do it again under similar circumstances, it’s unfair to make it “standard procedure” as most of the L4/L5 editors who can service unlock requests can’t move & rename threads on the forum.
Anyway, in this case, you’ve done the “right” thing by making a Roadworks thread. It would have been absolutely fine to make this request and say nothing more than “see here for details”.

OK - thanks for the explanation. I take it these temporary closure things aren’t available to humble level 1 eds then as I can’t see them anywhere.

Closures in the editor have been on trial in the beta editor for a couple of months and have only been available in the production editor for a week. Currently they can only be placed by level 5/6 editors. There’s an “add closures” button below the “add restrictions” button in the segment properties on the left. I assume that lower-level editors will be able to view, but not close them.
Of course, anyone can submit a closure request using the form and one of us will check & approve it. But more urgent closures are better off done here. I’ve even had another editor collar me in WME chat and get me do to a closure of a road he discovered on his drive home.
As for nice links in PMs/forum posts, there is a URL button just above the text entry window. If you hit it, it inserts this: {url}{/url} - note, I’ve changed the bracket type so it doesn’t actually work.
You can then edit it like this: {url=http://www.waze.com}Nice bit of text{/url}.
Just to the right of the text entry window it says “BBCode is ON”. The word “BBCode” is a link to a help page listing the things you can do with forum posts.
Discovered last night that along with the road closure etc, the powers that be have imposed a no right turn from Holyhead Road into Siliwen Road - segment Permalink. The diversion is on to the roundabout here and back again!
Holyhead Rd is level 3 so can some do the honours please?
Noticed today that the closure in Waze has evaporated but the road is still closed. The signage around the site suggests they’ll want students moving in before term starts again so I would imagine they must be nearly finished. Can someone reinstate the closure/change of direction until say the 18th? I’ll keep an eye on things in the meantime and report any more developments.

Scratch that - by the time I went past this evening it was looking like they were taking down the compound that was blocking the road. It may well be open by the time I’m back in Bangor on Monday.
I’ve added closures to the 18th, but please check I’ve got the Craig Y Don closure in the right direction.
I guessed wrong and the compound blocking the road was removed at the end of last week. College Road is now open again and Craig y Don Rd will be back to normal, and right turns at the western end of this segment are once more permitted.
Can one of you do the necessary please - iainhouse and ditchi56 have both responded to the 2 messages about this.
