Road closure implementation in NSW

I got the following private message and although I understand something of road closures not my pet subject
Could the champs please chime in with best practice on this subject and I will relay the answers

Here is his question -
Hi touring21,
I put restrictions on these streets
https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lon=151.20825&lat=-33.86628&layers=4005&zoom=4&segments=250922169,255906412,100879631,101025860,100879090,101025844,90029903,90016788,103379634,90016785,101025856,100879651

following the published closures.ie
https://www.livetraffic.com/desktop.html#textview
also it was in the news that there is major tram stop construction for one week in Melbourne CBD how would this be handled?

I have not done closures before and after reading the wiki I’m still not certain how to do it so as I believe you are the NSW manager I thought I should let you know in case you have some suggestions.
Cheers
Chris

The easiest way I have found to add small road closures to roads is to add time based restrictions in the editor to the roads in question. Since they can be set for precise times and dates, Waze will know not to route drivers down these roads while they are closed for roadworks or events etc. These restrictions will need to be added at least half a week or so ahead of the closure so the Waze App tiles can update (http://status.waze.com) before the closures begin.

For large scale closures for things like marathons, fun runs, cycling events, festivals, major highway or freeway closures or any other event requiring quite a few roads to be closed, it is easiest to fill out the Waze Major Events form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1R0XIsGkHQmk8Nc0U5DDID1PwMQWqLMwmindiLDFwcjo/viewform) which requires giving Waze some background information on the event and every segment ID for every road which is required to be closed/blocked. Waze will also send in-app emails to all local users alerting them to the upcoming disruption and the blocked roads being clearly displayed in the app.

I should also add that there is currently no automatic way to add road closures and incidents from government websites such as VicTraffic and Live Traffic NSW. All road closure information needs to be added to Waze manually. So if the person that private messaged you wanted all those events on the Live Traffic NSW to be added to Waze, it is currently not possible unless added a few days in advance by a editor (with the right editing level) who is keen enough to do so.

Thanks Lakeboy as usual great information and we all appreciate your tireless efforts to mentor and help other waxers
