Roads temporarily closed due to building works

Seems to happen a lot round here. In particular there’s one road which has been closed for maybe 6 months and will be foreseeably closed for at least another month. The entire road has been covered with temporary offices for the building works.

What’s the convention for such roads ? Disallowing the turns ? Or (in this particular case) removing the road altogether ?

Never remove the road altogether (unless it won’t be replaced) since you will lose the speed data associated with it. Usually it’s best to disconnect the road but it does depend on the circumstances, sometimes merely turn restrictions will be ok.

We have set up a separate forum to document each set of roadworks - see https://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=390

Follow the instructions in the post at the top AND leave a user request as described at the right point(s) in the map. That way people won’t come along and “correct” your changes.

Finally, be aware that automatic map problems will often be generated when you disconnect roads. Usually this is due to Waze using old user data to test the map but sometimes it’'s due to construction traffic. You need to use local knowledge to keep up to date.

Thanks, that’s spot-on.
