The disturbing part is that it was added incorrectly by one user yesterday usa_1d4exmse(1) and updated incorrectly by another editor HiroTheHero(1) today. There have been multiple instances of this as of late. There is no single editor, but they appear to have the “usa_” name.
I was under the impression that any segment created by a name with “usa_xxxxxxx” is through the client and not WME. That means they had pave on, but I would have expected the client to prevent that from happening. Maybe someone can confirm both point I am claiming.
However the other editor is registered, but for some reason even though there is the one segment showing as last edited by Hiro, the Waze Colour Highlighter advanced features show no segments actually displayed in the area. Maybe that is because it is not yet a finalized segment. Not sure why he left it. I assume TruckOttr will delete that segment after a few days. Actually maybe we should lock it at 4 to prevent early removal from the editor for others to see first.
The roads are straight as an arrow. it’s possible that Hiro straightened them out, but this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this occurring as of late.
There are multiple segments there, one right on top of the other. The highlighter is reflecting the accurate road. The incorrect ones are right on top.
The other instances I have seen are very similar. They can be difficult to find because they are right on top of each other. Makes me wonder if someone has some sort of script that is copying the segments and deleting them, and the ones i’m finding are ones where the script screwed up.
Wouldn’t be the first time. There was that one Wazer who had a script that would create all sorts of segments and then delete them right away. He was doing it to just get points. He insisted that since they never made it into the client, that he was doing nothing wrong. He also didn’t expect to get caught. The 150 edits limit per save has reduced that behavior somewhat.
Another example .Zoom in on this and you will see what I mean about how difficult they are to spot. I’m finding it somewhat hard to believe these are being done manually.
Yes. I intentionally highlighted an adjacent segment to show how the bad segment is not visible unless you zoom in. Unlike other “red segments”, they don’t show up at higher zoom levels. The only way to find them is to either scan the entire area at a low zoom level or randomly running across one.
Because the bad segment overlaps the good segment, highlighting usually fails at higher zoom levels so the bad segments become invisible.
If you inspect the bad segment, you will see there is a good segment right on top of it. You will need to pull the segments apart to find the hidden one.
I cannot see it at all unless I have the WME Colour Highlighter enabled. Then you have to be at the 500ft zoom level for it to highlight incomplete roads, but above 500ft most of the roads are not actionable.
Maybe you are just highlighting that point, but I am not sure what you are suggesting might help resolve this. Maybe you are not and joint pointing out the problem.
Just pointing out the problem. I’ve seen it occurring in a few areas. If there is a script floating around that people are using to do this, then it’s probably in many more areas, with the majority of them going unnoticed. My guess is that people are doing this to get points.
It may or may not cause routing problems, because the directional arrows are usually set to red and the correct segment with the correct turn restrictions sit right on top of it so routing goes down the good segment. A newbie editor, however, may not understand what is going on and enable the turn restrictions on the bad segment. That’s when it starts causing problems.
