Speed Camera Reporting Broken

I pass the same speed camera several times a week, and no matter how many times i report it, it never shows up. Am I doing something wrong?

Can you provide a location of the speed camera so we can look at it? Cameras take someone in the editor to confirm for it to go active.

1 is headed east on Randolph Rd, Just west of Old Randolph Road. There are 2 on Aspen Hill Rd, in Rockville, MD one in each direction.

This prevents the use of reporting for mobile camera units that that employed throughout, MD and DC.

What is the cross street for Aspen Hill Rd?
Randolph Rd in what city/state?

Are these mobile camera units?

Here’s the PL for the Randolph Rd report: https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-77.03693&lat=39.06446&s=104841215&zoom=6&cameras=3605474

There are 2 Aspen Hill Rd locations w/ opposing cameras:

I will try to find someone to BOTG this one if we do not hear back from the reporter.

Randolph Rd is in Silver Spring, MD.

I dont recall the cross streets in Aspen Hill. That is why I report them in the app. Those are not mobile units. I passed a mobile unit this morning, but i posted that as a police so it will show for others.

Perfect! Please continue to report all mobile units as police. Cameras are only used for stationary units.

I am having the same problem. There are several speed cameras on Ritz Way/Powder Mill Road in Beltsville, MD (same road) one shows up the other two don’t, I keep reporting them and when I remember to check the map my reports aren’t there for me to approve…

Waze has disabled it where we can no longer report cameras from the app. If you need to add a camera it will need to be done in WME. If you need help in adding it please check the link below or another editor could add it for you if you are uncomfortable adding it yourself.

OK, I’m sure that makes sense to someone but if I spot a camera trailer and report it, I may or may not remember its exact location hours or days later when I remember to edit. In any case thanks for mentioning it otherwise I would have just been frustrated.

Oddly, I just went to look and there were a couple unapproved cameras in the location of one of the ones I wanted to add… go figure…

I had occasion yesterday to drive the stretch of Virginia Manor Road where there are two cameras (one each direction)

I never got an alert that the speed camera was there. Did I mess something up? I know that I won’t get an audio alert unless I am speeding (which I disagree with but that’s how it is) but the cameras didn’t show on the map at all.

I also re-reported the camera westbound and do not see the unapproved camera on the map.

thanks

nate

I see both cameras in WME. One pointed west and one pointed east. Is this correct? https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-76.90628&lat=39.05675&zoom=5&cameras=3664121

You cannot report a camera from the app anymore. It has to be done from within WME.

Yes there are two cameras there, but I didn’t get any notification when I drove by yesterday.

It can take a few days for the SC to show up in the app (or disappear if they are deleted).

My recent experience in MD is 2-3 days.

I have at least one red light camera that refuses to give me notifications. But I have added speed cameras that have notifications working fine.

Have you done a map refresh of that area?

There are two things you need to check with a RLC.

  1. Does it have a speed set? If it does, then it will only give you an alert if you are exceeding that speed. For that reason, in the UK, we set the speed for all RLCs to 0, even if they can measure speed as well.

  2. Does it have a speed set? No, you’re not having deja vu! When you create a RLC, although it says the speed is zero, WME is lying. It’s actually unset. You need to bump the speed up and then down to zero again and save, otherwise it won’t alert. The URO+ script adds an info popup for RLCs that will point out the unset speed.

Thanks! I’ll check both(?) of those things haha. Cheers
