Do these wait for a tile update (which is nice and frequent lately, thanks HQ chaps) or do they go direct to the app maps?
I’ve verified some today for the long running M5 bridgeworks.
Also, I think someone said landmarks, sorry places, go direct to the app maps too? I’ve not seen evidence of that as yet (and I’ve been looking).

I think it’s with tile updates and you need to make some other change to force it too

Changes to gas station places go straight to the app. Actually, they go to a separate database which is referenced “live” by the realtime server because that’s also where the pricing information is stored.
I don’t know, but I suspect that a new gas station landmark might have to wait for a tile update.
I think that camera changes alone do not trigger a tile update. Make some minor geometry change to a nearby segment to be sure.
Thanks chaps. I’ve tweaked the elevation of the bridges near the new cameras to induce a tile update.
And you know that tweaking elevation works because . . . .? Don’t ask me, because I’ve got no idea! I’m just saying it’s probably not what I would have tweaked.
I shall use this as a test and inform back
You’ll also need to refresh the tiles in the client as cameras are not reloaded when routing (although you would expect that this would happen all road tiles on a route are reloaded).
Menu > Settings > Advanced > Data Transfer> Refresh map of my area.
I think petrol station information is stored in two places (with some duplication).
The “landmark”, sorry “place”, shape and the station name are stored on the normal WME map database, and subject to the normal tile update cycle before they appear on the app map.
However, the station location, brand, name (again), address and price are also stored on a separate database which the server accesses directly (i.e. doesn’t use the map tiles).
So if you add a new petrol station, I would expect it to be immediately possible to search for it, navigate to it, and put prices in for it. However I wouldn’t expect it to be visible on the map when you get there.
Caveat: this is only what I picked up from other people’s comments and guessed from my own observations, I may be completely wrong.

footnote: there’s another reason why a petrol station might not appear on the map; "landmark"s used not to appear at all if too small. I’ve no reason to suppose “places” are any different in this respect.
Yeah I’m seeing that. Not until you zoom in to highest detail level do some very small places appear.
