I’ve noticed recently my route options in Houston include HOV lanes which I can’t use with only me in the car. I can’t find any way to turn HOV lanes off. Is there any way to do that?
No, you cannot turn off HOV routing options currently. Once a route is selected, choosing ‘Routes’ to select a non-HOV is your only option.

What you may be seeing is that the HOV lanes are available for single drivers paying a toll at certain times of the day. If you’d rather not utilize this and it doesn’t interfere with your usual commute, you could turn on the option for “Avoid toll roads” under the Navigation Settings.
Your other option was already mentioned, manually selecting a route that doesn’t use those roads when starting navigation.
