A UR appeared this morning on the A32 - Gosport Rd in Fareham. The reason for the routing back south was a blocked turn permission preventing further progress north along the A32, now corrected. An image of the UR routing follows as someone’s bound to close it before anyone else gets a chance to see it.

However, what’s really puzzling me is the southbound routing taking the user through a petrol station, parking lot roads set up correctly, rather than staying on the main southbound carriageway. I was under the impression that routing along PLRs was like on private roads, only done if that’s the only route to the destination. Clearly it is not, in this case.
Can anyone shed some light on why this routing has been proposed?
Thanks
What change did you make to the petrol station road as it’s now showing an edit date of today?
Also where do you think the waze planned route started? It looks like it’s going round in circles? I wonder if the user had the station as a stop-off?
Soft-turn on the entry node into the PLR. I’d checked turn permissions before I killed it with JNF.
As the through route north along the A32 was blocked by turn permissions, I suspect the reporter was initially directed up Redlands Ln, then Mill Rd/Redlands Ln to get to the A27, but they ignored that and what we now see is the Waze directions for getting back down to Redlands Ln. Given the user continued to drive straight up the A32 northbound, I don’t think that the station was a stop-off, but that’s a possibility. I’ve never used a stop-off when following a Waze route. Does it bring up a chequered flag or similar to show that you’re reached the stop-off? And would it be reported in a UR? I just don’t know.
yes it brings up a flag (not chequered though if I remember). I’ve no idea if it’s reported in a UR.
We don’t have to worry about this any longer - it’s been fixed by a Level 1 editor with 4 months’ experience
I would still like to be clear on why Waze is routing through PLRs where there are streets or highways on the direct route. I came across another example later this afternoon where the user was routed through a lay-by which was set as a PLR, while the minor highway he was on carried on with all turn permissions correctly set. Is this normal behaviour?
No but I’ve seen a few odd things lately.
