Suggested tweak to app for carpool option

I just searched the forums, and I didn’t see this topic which surprised me. I want the app, WHEN STARTED, to ask me if I’m “carpooling or solo driver”. Then, it can offer proper routes throughout my drive without worry that I can’t take the HOV lanes(if I’m “solo driver”). Additional functionality might include the ability to add individual toll road accounts, so that were I to drive in an area WITH said toll road operator I could be routed with that consideration. WITH toll roads in mind; remembering that each “fast pass” location does not allow another "fast pass"customer to use their toll roads…so…it would be necessary to have a database that keeps track of which ones each app user has a transponder/account-WITH. Driving on the 73/91/241/261 toll roads in southern California doesn’t give me an account with the 15 freeway “fast pass” (also in southern California), as an example.
Thanks,
Mark

PS: if implemented can I get a map editor credit? or perhaps something to brag about!

Mark,

Thanks for your post. As a volunteer, I cannot speak for Waze the company, but I will share what I have heard. Unfortunately, the search feature in the forums are not the best; but I have seen similar suggestions before.

It is my understanding that Waze plans to support HOV routing someday; when that will be, is currently unknown. The exact method of how that will work is also unknown, but we suspect it might be similar to what you described as you start a route or it could be a box that gets checked in the settings somewhere.

Regarding toll roads, there are several areas of the country that would very much like additional options for toll management. For example in the SF Bay Area, you really cannot turn the tolls feature off, because of the many bridges. Unfortunately, this causes these Wazers to get routes that include pay Express Lanes; even though they might not want them. The Waze ‘all or nothing’ approach really does not work for them. I’m sure Waze is aware of this problem (they have staff that live in the Bay Area); but is it significant enough to devote resources to changing; that is also unknown.

You have to remember that Waze is a free world-wide app. Waze must allocate their resources to app improvements that will have the greatest benefits across the globe and to some extent can lead to additional financial resources for the company. I do think your ideas have merit, but I hate being the ‘bubble popper’.
