Its not often waze fails me but today it did. I was driving during rush hour, which is bad, waze was helping as usual until i hit a road that was closed and waze had it as open. Ive just been on the map to look and it looks like its been added. How waze still sent me that way? this is the section I’m taking about. It said its closed for 3 weeks from the 13th, only in one direction but somebody has it on the notes on the link.
Unless a user set a closure (Report, Closure in the app), there hasn’t been a closure placed on the Waze map until now. The Elgin system, which can be accessed through roadworks.org, feeds roadworks of all sorts to Waze which appear on the map as Hazards, and that’s what you can see in the Live Map, to which your link points. These only result in road closures visible in the app and impacting on routing when either a user reports a closure in the app (which lasts a certain amount of time) or an editor takes the information on Elgin and sets a closure on the editing map, taking almost immediate effect. As nobody had reported the closure, the local editors hadn’t picked it up and enacted it on the map.
I’ve now done that and the road is closed southbound until 5pm on Friday March 3rd.
Thanks for the alert. If you’re happy with this and can see it on the Live Map, then please click on the green tick at the top of the forum post so that we know this topic is closed.
