I am not sure what the correct procedure is, 11th Avenue below is closed between Buffelsfontein and Villiers Road at the moment due to ongoing construction:
The easiest for you is to edit the turn restrictions at both junctions, which will prevent Waze from routing traffic over this segment. I’ve dropped the lock on the two Buffelsfontein Rd segments so that you can make those changes. Let us know once you’re done, and I raise them again.
The disadvantage of this method is that it takes a few days for the change to it’s way down to the client, and then there’s the same delay when you remove the restrictions.
Thanks for the help, I have changed the turn restrictions leading in to 11th Avenue, could you please have a look and let me know if this is sufficient.
I’d also enable the turn restrictions out of that segment i.e. the left and right turns from 11th Ave into Buffelsfontein Rd on the southern end and the left and right turns into Villiers Rd along with the straight ahead onto 11th Ave on the northern end, so that if someone does manage to get onto that segment, they aren’t routed out the other side.
There is also the turn restriction from the open segment of 11th Ave going south to the closed segment that you need enable.
Done, I think, please check. I did get an isolated segment error because the segment of 11th between Buffelsfontein Rd and Villiers Rd is essentially completely blocked off?
Is this closure still relevant? I’d have thought it’d be easier to add a closure by means of the closure function as opposed to restricting the turns - that way if you “forget” about it the closure will expire and not lead to MPs.
I will only be down in PE the week after next but perhaps you could explain the method of adding a closure? It does sound like a better option as this specific road looks to be closed while roadworks and other works are taking place.
If you select a segment the last option on the left is what you’re looking for. It’s labelled as “add closures.” It’s pretty straight forward, all you do is say add closure, give a description and a start and end. This is not to be used for lane closures though as the entire segment will become unroutable. Further reading can be found in the Waze Wiki
Thanks, that does sound like a better, more easily manageable option. I took a look at a more local road segment, just to see the “Add Closures” option but I can only see the “Add Restrictions” and “View Closures” option. Is the “Add Restrictions” option what you are referring to? Or am I restricted as I am still a Level 1 editor?
It’s the add closures button you’re looking for. Be advised that it’s only accessible if you have no outstanding edits though otherwise it will be greyed out. Just press save, select the segment and it should be ready to go.
Edit: I see now that it’s for L5 and above. Sorry about that.
