Is it possible to register Waze friends without doing the Facebook connection thing?
Is it possible to connect to my Facebook account for only friends but nothing else (I.e. no posts, etcetera of any kind to Facebook unless I do it myself)?

You can only have friends via facebook at this time. You can tell Waze to not post and it will remain silent. You will still see your friends on your scoreboard so you can fight for the top spot!!! Enjoy.

It’s off by default but yes you can set checkboxes once you’ve connected.
How do I turn off the facebook connection to Waze? Not wanting it anymore.

Go to your Dashboard, and below your birthday and gender, click the “Disconnect” link to the right of “Facebook Connect”. 
In the iPhone client you can work with your social media settings by opening:
Menu -> My Waze -> Social Networks
For this particular request you then would go to Facebook, and can select disconnect.
But what… if one (like me) refuses to start a facebook?
I hate facebook and I don’t want to start it, but I do like Waze and want to add friends here!
Open a Facebook account under the name “D2nny Wazer”, or something similar, and don’t put any personal info in there. Post the link on here or one one of the “Friend me on Facebook” threads, and then forget about it.
Thanks for the answer, but I don’t really think this is what I’m looking for.
I want people to have friends on Waze, without the use of anything like facebook (like me), for instance let me email my friends to join me.
The friend feature will be improved in the future to add twitter and I believe G+ options too!

I second that, I have convinced my family to use the Waze app, but we do not, nor do we wish to get involved in Facebook. I’d like to friend them on Waze though.
I was trying my wife’s new Itouch and logged in into my account. Unfortunately it linked my account to her FB account. Now I can’t unlink it. Is there a way to change my linked account to my own Facebook account instead?
Disconnect/log out of Facebook and log in with a different id? If that doesn’t work, then something is amiss.
