The Joys and Perils of Rural Editing

As part of the MAR-NWR exchange program, I have a rather large EA in Montana and Wyoming. I’ve been cleaning up basemap and other similar tasks in my EA as I have the time and inclination.

== Question 1 ==

Big Horn County, Wyoming (and, to a lesser extent, Park County) has a kind of “Grid System” of county roads, where County Roads go north-south and County Lanes go east-west.

The Wyoming Wazeopedia page ( https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Wyoming ) says that County Lanes shall be named as “Co Ln XX.” When I click the speaker button to try this out in TTS, it says “Co Lane XX.” Before I saw this note on the Wazeo, I’d done a rather large amount of name changing (D’oh!) to “County Lane XX” so that it’s pronounced correctly by TTS. “CR-XX” is read as “County Route XX,” and is how the Wyoming Wazeo page says to name them, so I’ve been leaving those as-is or renaming them when I see “Co Rd XX” and similar.

I know there is a process for updating the Wazeo pages, but I’ve forgotten it. Do you think we should update naming guidance to “County Lane XX” or “County Ln XX” so that there is a proper TTS pronunciation?

== Question 2 ==

I’m seeing a very small amount of Bureau of Land Management roads (one I was working on this morning was BLM-1129, I think, connecting it to Park County CR-3NG). I’m trying to find an official BLM map/resource for the routings on these, however, the BLM website appears to be down.

What needs to be done, I always travel by bus and I take great joy in not having to plan my trip along rural roads. :slight_smile:
