Hi all, there was a “General error” UR here just at the end of the road I’ve highlighted. Their route was north up Locks Ride and straight across to Braziers Ln. I sent the reporter a message asking for more detail, but in the mean time another editor replied advising “When you travel south to north there is no indication that the there is a need to stop at the junction. I have modified the map to slightly move the junction from both sides to indicate that there is a break in travel.” and has edited Braziers Ln to offset it.
Looking at Street View it’s a crossroads with one way having priority rather than an offset junction, so to my mind the driver should be looking at the road, not relying on Waze to give them a false “turn right, then turn left” instruction. What’s the best way to handle this?

Your conclusion in the second paragraph is entirely correct. This junction is a crossroads and should not have been altered in this way. Now, instead of giving no instruction (which is regrettable, but that’s how Waze works), it will give completely incorrect instructions. I would hope that a L3 editor would know better.
Feel free to change it back. It might also be worth PMing the editor in question and pointing him to this thread.
At some point in the future, Waze may acquire the ability to deal with junctions like this better. Until then, we have to rely on drivers looking out of the windscreen.

I just saw a UR to put a crossroads straight that had been fiddled in this manner, and I wondered why on earth that had been done, but now I understand what the editor had (incorrectly, although well-intentioned) been doing. I just now wonder how many more of these junctions have been “adjusted” in this way…
I’ve just come across a UR along the same lines and when asking for more information they said that
"when you are travelling on the b4397 , when you reach the A5 and you want to go straight across , it doesn’t tell you to stop it just tells you to go straight across. I feel that if someone doesn’t know the area they might carry on and it is a major junction an it could cause an accident . I feel you need to be told to stop and the carry straight on as it would be a lot better . "
Shame there isn’t a way of warning about major junctions in the countryside but, I guess it relies on looking out for road signs and markings (in this way, large Give Way signs).

This has been something I considered a drawback with Waze (I can’t remember how tomtom used to deal with this as it has been such a long time since I used it) but may also be an issue with other nav apps available (Navdroid, Navfree, M8 etc).
It would be “handy” to have junctions “highlighted”. If you are routed down a country road which has several cross roads, but where your route always goes straight on, you are never advised of such, just go straight on for x miles…
User expectation of navigation apps perhaps?
Bottom line, as mentioned elsewhere, look out of the windscreen - that’s what it is there for!
