Hi all
Looking at another UR about an issue with voice directions at a set of crossroads.
This is the UR here: https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lon=-0.37276&lat=52.06172&layers=9093&zoom=7&mode=0&mapProblemFilter=0&mapUpdateRequestFilter=0&venueFilter=2&update_requestsFilter=truemaar&problemsFilter=false&u
pdate_requestsFilter=false&lo%20...%20ueFilter=0&apProblemFilter=0&%3BapProblemFilter=0maar&mapUpdateRequest=7585815
The reporter travelled along North End Road, across the A600, and onto Standalone Warren. The A600 has the priority, and North End Road/Standalone Warren both have Give Way markings at the junction.
The reporter has raised a UR stating that Waze told them it was a straight road when actually he had to give way.
Is this normal for crossroads? Should they have received a ‘At the junction, go straight ahead’ or similar instruction?
Can someone help/advise please and/or point me at the right place in the Wiki for this?
Thanks
This is a common complaint. You may wish to refer to this standard response;
https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Update_Requests_(UK)#Waze_doesn.27t_show_traffic_lights.2C_level_crossings.2C_etc
Until Waze gives us some control over instructions the only “straight on” instruction Waze gives is at simple roundabouts.
I’m sure Waze didn’t tell him it was a straight road because it hasn’t got that command :lol: Waze only has turn, exit & keep (left & right) commands plus of course roundabout commands.
Drivers need to use what one of the editors here calls the Forward Viewing Portal, in other words look out of the windscreen.
Waze can’t currently mark cross roads, traffic lights, level crossings or any of the other hazards you will encounter on the road and in my view it’s not needed because we have perfectly clear road signs. Just imagine if we did tell Wazers to give way at cross roads and then one day the local council changed the priority at the junction before we updated the map, carnage and court cases!
Thanks guys, I’ve formulated a response and closed the UR. Appreciate the replies
My stock answer is:-
Currently there is no way for us to mark in the waze map which road has right-of-way at a crossroads.
Because the route was straight-on, waze had no turn instructions to give you.
