Coming south on Shakespeare Road, you cannot turn right at the first r/bout as it has a blocked route.

This is going to suffer with the double roundabout issue, you need to ensure that the link segment is at least 10m long or waze may only navigate in one direction

See http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=49703

I am not at all sure that there is a problem with a short link segment.

As noted in the other thread, there are 2 double-minis I rebuilt - one in March with a 6m connector segment and one in April with a 4m segment. I’ve just tested both in livemap and they’re still both routing fine.

Anyway, I’ve tried the routing in the livemap. Obviously it fails going east-west between the 2 roundabouts because of the silly turn restrictions, but all the other routes seem OK. I’ve enabled the turns and also taken the name off the connector segment - this will give much more sensible instructions as the app won’t try to announce the name of the connector segment. You’ll get something like “At the roundabout turn right then at the roundabout turn left onto …”.

Come back to us if there are any problems after the next map update.

Oh - and I’ve left the UR for you to claim, simfin.

Just had another look at this and although the link segment is listed as two way the overlay shows one way chevrons ??

Just too a quick look as I’ve never had this double-roundabout issue, currently the one in the OP has two link segments, there is a single two-way and a single one-way on top of each other - I’m pretty sure that will give some bizarre instructions :?

I have what appears to be a double roundabout with an 8M link, that seems to work fine:

Good spot garfyville and g1btv - I should have caught that!

The one-way segment was added by the OP on 16th June and was probably responsible for the restricted turns. It was probably also an attempt to deal with an existing problem at this junction, leading me to think that maybe it was another corrupted double roundabout.

Given that, plus both the OP and myself messing with it, I don’t think I “trust” this one any more, so I have rebuilt both roundabouts. We’ll see how it works after an update.

Now we’ve had an update, it still isn’t working - routing between the roundabouts is broken going west->east, but not the other direction. :frowning:

However, on checking closely, I realised I had “re-used” one of the original connector segments between the roundabouts. Because I would like to prove it’s not the shortness of the connector segment, I have rebuilt it again with a new one. I’ll check after the next update.

Waze did confirm there was an issue with short segments, but clearly it doesnt affect all segments. thats the last I heard.

Once again - a failure. That had a 4m central segment, but still won’t route west->east.

I had a look at the 2 Brockley pairs (which are still working): one has a 6m link and one has a 4m link. Of course, WME doesn’t supply the decimals, so the 4m in Brockley could be longer than the 4m in Bedford.

I’ve therefore rebuilt this junction again, with a 6m connector. If that doesn’t get it, I guess I’ll try two 1-way connectors (or seppuku).

Iain,
Before you do anything drastic;
I notice that you don’t give the roundabout segments a city name, I have never come across this issue directly and have always given roundabouts a city name. I’m sure someone will be able to give me an example of where that hasn’t worked, but thought it worth a mention.
Andrew

That’s good thinking, Andrew, but the 2 working pairs in Brockley don’t have city names either. :frowning:

Think we will have to start offering prizes to v anyone who can find the pattern lol

Do you have a link for that one?

It’s mentioned in the other double-roundabout thread here.

The saga continues . . . not well.

Another update and the routing is still broken west->east. :x

I have now rebuilt the junction with a pair of one-way connectors. I have also (because I’m getting a little desperate here) tried something else. I “broke” each approach road by adding junction points, then removed those junctions again creating theoretically “new” segments.

Now the wait for another update.

This junction is now working!

I have checked and livemap will route all ways through the double roundabout. The presence of the two connectors is causing “2nd exit” instructions instead of “turn right” when approaching from the south at the western roundabout and when approaching from the north at the eastern roundabout - that’s not unexpected, as the quadrant for turning right contains 2 segments, even though only one is valid as an exit:

I think I’m satisfied with this. Given the amount of trouble this junction has caused, I’m not going to mess with it again now it’s working. The most annoying thing is that it still hasn’t provided any concrete answers as to why double-mini roundabouts are suffering these problems. :x
