The intersection marked is the first in a series along the red route, called Likelike Highway. It begins at this point.

The problem is that at several intersections, starting with this one, the instruction is to “turn right at Likelike Highway,” even when, further along, the driver is clearly already on Likelike.

Is this because someone has configured the junction almost like a roundabout on the map, rather than like a standard American-style intersection? The red route lines on either side of the highway should have separate points of connection to the cross street rather than curving in to a central point.

This is a very high-value road, and if anyone new to the area is using Waze (such as a tourist), they will be really, really confused.

Thanks for any heip or insight.

Yes, this is being caused by the road being split, and the previous editor choosing to use only one junction node for the intersection.

So the question needing to be asked is… does it required to be split. The GPS points are clearly divided between the two directions, and it looks like there might be a barrier (hard to tell from the grainy photos). So it probably should be.

If the decision is to unsplit it, then the problem goes away, as you then would just have a standard + style intersection

If the decision is to leave it split, the intersections could be reworked into a H or # style where passing through the intersection is a straight line instead of curving in. This causes issues with allowing U-turns though, which if illegal for that intersection, can’t be controlled without more complex intersections like a mapcat bowtie (Can’t find an example in the wiki, but talked about in other forum posts)

Wow. Complicated! There are U-turns on at least some of the problem intersections.

What’s weird is that coming in the opposite direction you would expect the same problem, with reversed instructions. But that doesn’t happen.

The angle of attack is what causes the turn instruction, so it might be possible to skate on some of these.

OK. Last question: Is there any means for communicating more directly with whichever editors locally could be involved in fixing this?

If you know their Waze name, you can PM them here on the forums.
