Traffic locks (aka - road ranks or segment locks) are the first line of defense when protecting the Waze map from damaging edits.
The parenthetical gets in the way of the reading flow. I would like to change it to:

Traffic locks are the first line of defense when protecting the Waze map from damaging edits. Traffic locks are also sometimes called road ranks, segment locks, or automatic locks.
Before I create a mock up page of the change, I wanted a quick consensus first that it is worth considering. (I have some history with this content, I have been authoring versions of it since automatic traffic locks first appeared in February 2014.)
