Hi,
As an emergency service we mainly use WAZE to navigate thru a large metropool. Is there a posibility to use WAZE as a unique navigator for emergency services and where we can put periodic road closers? When there is a road (even single direction we use in both directions), we can use it except when there is a physical block. Are there solutions?

Hey there! While it is certainly possible to use Waze for emergency services, I’m afraid Waze does not provide any special support for it. Most emergency services use the taxi profile to also get routes over roads like bus lanes (if taxis are allowed there) and different route times than personal vehicles do. This seems to already work well for them. Anything special we do, should also apply to taxis, as that is the actual intent of that vehicle type.
Road closures are always applied to all vehicle types and should only be placed when traffic is really not allowed to go through (due to signs, physical obstacles, police, etc.). There are ways to give some Waze accounts additional rights, so they can place road closures in Waze and Google Maps within their management area in the Waze Map Editor. Usually, we give these rights to crisis management coordinators (noodplanningscoördinatoren). Alternatively, there is also the Waze for Cities programme, via which it is also possible to add road closures.
Feel free to get in touch if you have further questions, either in this thread or via the chat.

Hi,
On behalf of emergency service coordinators and drivers, we would vote for option to calculate routes w/o road taking in driving directions and time to cross junctions etc., which emergency service vehicles can do faster. If we use transport sdk to calculate ETAs - coordinator has way different time of actual arrivals to spots. Is there any better way to ask them drive as taxis?
Thanks, i had lost the link to open the page …
Is there a possibility to add internal layers on the existing maps?
It’s correct there are roadclosures that don’t apply on emergency vehicules.
I would be happy to have a meeting with a representive of Waze.
With regards,
