Waze is driving me into closed roads in my way to work/home

Hi,

Very often when I’m directed to work or home Waze tries to take me into closed roads despite being sure they have been reported in the map(sometimes by me just to make sure).

This doesn’t happen when I’m directed to a new address, it happens only when I get the route tapping in my work or home address(I have them both saved for easy and fast routing from the menu).

The last time this happened was at Division & Western(Chicago) yesterday. There was an event and the closure was there for the last couple of days. I think now it is open though. I didn’t have time to write about it until now.

Why is this happening?

This is happening during this weekend again since there is another street closed in my way to Work.

Nobody know what is happening here or this forums are just abandoned?

Thinking that the forum is abandoned is a very strange thing to say since you can easily see that there are hundreds (sometimes thousands) of new posts daily…

In order to best help you, we’re going to need some more information. First, were the roads you were directed onto closed in the app, in other words, were there red stripes over them? If they were, that’s a failure of the closure server and needs to be addressed at a different level. If they did not have the red stripes, then it’s a simple matter of volunteer map editors not having that information. We do our best to get the major road closures entered, but unfortunately, we are a finite group covering essentially an infinite area.

If you’d like to help advise of closures that you know about, we’d be more than happy to have that information and use it to improve the routing experience for all Wazers. It could be as simple as a quick post in here that a road is/is going to be closed from X date to Y date because of Z. If you find that you want to start editing the map and helping others out in that way, https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/Global/Waze_Map_Editor is a great place to start.
