Today (Tuesday 31 October 2023) at High Street Road Glen Waverley near the bridge towards Wantirna South.
I saw a mobile & seat belt camera sitting there since 6am. Because I was on the other side I couldn’t report in time.
However throughout the day I noticed no Police Warning icon appeared at all. That was strange I thought.
So after picking up the kids, I drove towards Wantirna South again along High Street Road and I saw the camera still there and this was 5pm.
I pressed submit Police Report just after the camera. It didn’t show up and in fact I found it strange nobody reported it all day. When I was driving towards the camera there was a warning but about 100m suddenly the warning got cut off and the icon wasn’t there.
This has happened before a few months back and it was on speed traps by radar gun. Reported and didnt appear.
is Waze under Vic Pol order to take down any scheduled site?
Hello there
We are not aware of anything that prevent reports from showing. Be aware though that:
- Reports by users are temporary and only show for a period of time. They are not permanent.
- Other users can mark the report as either “still there” or "not there. It is possible another user (or several) has marked the report as “not there”.
Also just double check that you have both “show on map” and “alert while driving” selected under “alerts and reports” in settings.
You may experience an issue with not being able to report police on “the other side” but this should be fixed in an update soon.
Hi Age4670,
Thanks for the reply. I will monitor this and report any further incidences with detail.
However, I have checked my settings and they are all correct. “Show on Map” and “Alert while driving” are all checked on.
My thought on your second point seems consistent to the articles I’ve read yesterday that certain people (eg: Cops) might be actively monitoring Waze and clicked “Not There” in quantity so as to prevent the showing of the icon on the map. It may sound extreme but couldn’t rule it out either.
