Waze takes us off route main roads to single track roads

As last year we went to Devon Uk Waze found the route we chose it off we go as we got nearer to destination it takes us off main road into the thinnest single track roads with occasional passing places . This happened last year !! It made the journey horrible reversing so many times as more cars coming towards us . We surpass the journey time by over an hour whereas if Waze had kept to original journey we would have got there quicker and less annoyed and frustrated why does Waze do this keep taking us off main roads it’s not quicker it’s not green hammers the fuel consumption.

Waze will use what it determines to be the fastest route based on historical travel times. Unfortunately a lot of the roads in rural Devon do not have much historical data so are assumed to be faster as a baseline due to their higher speed limit. If you have a specific route you can report a ‘Map Issue’ at the time of the drive so we can troubleshoot, but otherwise if you have local knowledge of a better route I would advise sticking to it so the app will re-route.
