"Wazers around you" in Australia

Hi Guys,

I Just wanted to let you know that we launch the new and cool “Wazers around you” feature in Australia.

So… What is “Wazers around you”?

“When you use Waze, you are never alone on the road”!

Every time you’ll launch the app, you will be able to see the number of Wazers that are driving around you in real-time.
You can also see the overall number of reports that were made by your fellow Wazers.

This feature is live and running in 15 metro areas all over the country.

Amit

How large is the radius that it uses to calculate the Wazers?

Thank you Amit for helping set this up properly for Australia. Will give us a better sense of how well the app is being used! And newer users will see instant connectivity with other drivers!

love it Now Thats spy on other users ha ha

It doesn’t tell you where or who they are. -_-

If you tap/click on them in the app it will show you who they are… :stuck_out_tongue:

True. Unless they’re invisible.

I usually see between 30 and 40 around Brisbane.

When I was in London recently, it said there were over 1200 Wazers and 300 reports.

I wonder what America is like :o
I’ve had 94 once, but generally near the city it’s 40-60 while it’s only around 20 in my area.

Wazers around me is still an ambiguous term. Do we know how close my fellow wazers are yet?

??

Someone a while back mentioned its a 200km radius. But Waze won’t actually say how wide the actual search is.
One of those mysteries…

Is this also available in Darwin?

I haven’t seen it here since moving to Australia, even when my husband is on Waze too. I know that there are a few around as you occasionally get road reports (usually roadworks), but never a number to say how many.

TerritoryKate, You will see how many wazers are online when you first start up the Waze app. Usually at the bottom middle of your screen.

Hmm, that will be no one then! If it doesn’t come up then I am guessing that no one is around then?

Used to see 100’s in the UK!

yes, I have the same problem in NZ.

In my experience waze is popular in cities with traffic problems.

Every city is a traffic problem… #justsaying

Hi there!

I was browsing the ‘Down Under’ part of the Forum this morning, when I found this topic ; actually, little frenchy here, planning to come to Australia in a few month, for 1 or 2 years of WHV!

Not to brag out (or maybe just a little  ) but here in Bordeaux (South West France), this morning, around 8:00am, I got ‘1918 wazers around you’. Plus, we usually are 10 to 20 on the WME Chat, sometimes a bit more.
I’m quite surprised that you don’t have, in your great country, more users of this marvelous app ; I didn’t though that it was that popular in Europe.

Anyway, if everything work as planned, there will be 1 more wazer down under, in a while!

hi Didou-MobiIe

I think it has a lot to do with population density

that and Waze is more suited/focused on urban areas with traffic problems
