Welcome to the Georgia Forum

Thanks to the Waze team for responding to my request to create a discussion forum for Georgia.

I am an Area Manager for Newnan and surrounding areas. If you have any problems, feel free to let me know.

GeSpot, thanks for setting this up. It was a good idea to have a place to communicate GA map issues.

Nice, didn’t know this was here. I’m the AM for Athens and vicinity… and some parts farther out (Conyers) that didn’t have AMs

Hello, everyone. I’m a new area manager in the Atlanta areas. We may have some overlap, GeSpot. I have the areas around Atlanta, Decatur, Forest Park, Jonesboro, Riverdale, Fayetteville, Irondale, and Hampton. I live in Fayetteville and work downtown.

Are there any Georiga editors along the Tennessee border?

Augusta, GA area manager checking in.

Hey Guys - I’ve just been granted Area Manager of the Columbus Ga area. I’m relatively new to Waze but have been living in the map editor for the last few weeks. I found so many unanswered reports and bad BAD edits that were done to the map that I felt compelled to take a bigger role.

One of the things that should have been easy, was to post my pin and area in google maps. Any tips there? It doesn’t work the way i remember it (pre-2009) and I eventually gave up.

Thanks for setting up the Georgia forum. I’ve book marked it.

Hi Guys. I’m the AM of Rome, GA and surrounding areas.

Welcome bigt.

Gespot,

I live in Newnan and have been updating the Newnan area roads that I travel regularly. I’ve watched the editing videos and have read the best practices. If you see any errors I’ve made, please let me know what I did wrong and I’ll fix them ASAP.

Nice to have you aboard  I was doing some editing in that area recently, but I’ll leave that to you now

Checking in from Northwest Georgia. I was granted AM status a few weeks ago. If you’ve been seeing an unreal amount of URs up this way, it’s probably me. Looking forward to getting to know and learn from all the other wazers here.

Dipping my toes in the editing thing. Live in McDonough, commute to North Atlanta. Any AM’s covering Henry County? Would love to help with any projects needed, but will just make minor adjustments as I see errors in the meantime.

No one from South Georgia.

I’m the AM for the Southwest corner of the state. I’ve lived in and around Albany for most of my 66 years.

For some reason, my name doesn’t show in the AM overlay of the editor at this time. I’m basically covering from Eastman south and west to the state lines.

If I can help in any way in this area just let me know.

huckd

This is approximately my area:

Can you edit Hwy 82 between Albany and Columbus?

Most of it. I’ll loose it just below Cusseta. Up to level 3.

I know I’m resurrecting an old thread, maybe get more folks involved in GA. Anyway, from McDonough and commute to Ft. Benning. Here’s my route. Yep, that’s roughly 130miles one-way. 75N–>285W–>85S–>I-185S. Takes approx. 2-2.5hrs. If anyone has a suggestion on a quicker route, I’m all ears; however, in my attempts, this has been the quickest.

I’ve edited a couple things on the map, did a BUNCH of “vehicle stopped on the side of the road”; even did a ‘major accident’ (unfortunately, a fatality). I love waze and my guess is that someone is going to pay a pretty penny this this thing (google? facebook?).

Welcome. I edit mostly around Henry, Dekalb, and Clayton counties, so feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions.

Waze LiveMap agrees, though offers more direct secondary and tertiary alternatives, but they take longer.

So that’s a good way to get your feet wet. Except for rural areas, the maps are reasonably mature. If you’re looking for something to do, though, start verifying that the road-types are consistent with this table (https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Road_types/USA#FC_cross_reference). You’ll be rather restricted on where you can edit for a while, but keep plugging away and use Waze every time you drive. You’ll also need to be familiar with the Southeast Wiki, linked below. We can always use more good editors.

Welcome to Waze World!. FYI, Google paid $1b for Waze last summer.

Best,
