What about a chit-chat forum?

I’ve been thinking about this lately… every forum I’ve belonged to has some sort of off topic or chit-chat subforum. Why shouldn’t Waze? It IS a social GPS after all. And you can socialize via chit chat reports in the client, but there’s only so much that fits there.

I feel like Waze should have an off topic subforum where we can just socialize. Or am I the only one who is interested getting to know other members?

Totally agree, it would boost membership of groups also

Twitter hash tags could probably accomplish the same thing… mostly. #WazeCasual or something :stuck_out_tongue:

Only works for twitters of course.

Ack! Not twitter!

My hatred of twitter aside, I’m not sure it would accomplish the same thing. It’s an interesting option, but I think that twitter would really limit discussions.

IRC is a decent solution to talk among each-other.

I would really apreciate an interface to access drivers chit-chats from the website. We can see them on the Live Map, it would be so easy to also respond to them.

I don’t know. I know some users have been utilizing IRC, but I don’t think that is the same as having a dedicated subforum either.

IRC is a better solution for a free flowing conversation. I think the problem is that most people don’t live on their computers… IRC really needs that active user base in order for it to really work. I think that it really excludes the people who just don’t have the extra time… whereas it’s very easy to just pop in to a forum, type out a reply when you have time, and leave. AND you don’t miss any of the conversation that way.

I happen to find the social aspect of Waze severely lacking. A chit-chat forum would help, but Waze generally feels like a bunch of separate entities in the form of Wazers, driving along and maybe reporting a map problem which might get looked at by an Area Manager, or sending out a chit-chat or alert which may get a response. Or not.

Such behavior is evidenced by the numerous threads I see on the forum concerning map problems that have been existing for months, and Area Managers who go about actually making a thread informing everyone that they are there to help, but no one responds to them!

I’m not suggesting that Waze give people profile pages ala Facebook or any other choice social networks, but you might as well suggest a chit-chat chatroom over another forum. Wazers gotta be more social! I’m alone over here!

Phew, at least I’m not the only one who feels this way.

The social thing is a little hard to realize on the road. It’s not only dangerous to write some text while driving - in many countries it is forbidden for drivers to operate the phone while driving. I’m in the comfortable situation to use waze often as a co-driver. This is much fun!
Maybe waze will become more social if you could interact from home…?

Hi all!

Sounds like a good idea.

Please don’t forget to post it in the Uservoice site!

Sigh. Where is my white flag waving emoticon when I need it? Uservoice? You’re killing me, Damian!

Okay okay. I added it to uservoice, so pretty pretty please with sugar on top vote for it here.

Man, now I need an eyelash-batting emoticon. Just pretend I have one, and I inserted it here.

I agree i have a group in Fairfield,Ohio called iBuddyTeam, I’m the only one in my group to do most of the posting. I have 13 members and would like for it to get bigger.

Still wishing over here!

The forums are awfully dead lately.

I just voted for it… again
