'Wide' junction instruction (improvement?)

This junction has been drawn correctly and I understand that Waze can’t / won’t give straight on direction. Due to the fact that the side, joining, roads are a substantial distance from the centre line of the main road, could anything be done to improve this junction :?:

Newton Rd / Newton Manor Ln junction

This is indeed a tricky junction. You could potentially tweak the angles a bit so that it says “keep left”. You get a similar instruction going east to west, so it might be doable. Going from the south to the north says “turn left”, while the other ways says “turn right”, which isn’t good either.

Failing that, one would need a complicated set of crisscrossing 1-way segments to produce optimal instructions for all routes, but I don’t think it’s worthwhile for just a minor junction.

What we really need is a generic “junction” that announces like a roundabout, but without the word “roundabout”.

This is how I map all junctions like these:

That will give “turn” instructions at the give way lines. Technically, it will be instructing “turn” for the “straight ons”, but the map will make it obvious what is going on.

Based on both of your suggestions, would it be complicating things too much if the driver was given a double instruction based on a short segment off the primary street:

E >W - Turn right and then keep left
S > N - Turn left and then keep right
S > E - Turn left and then keep left
E > N - Turn right and then keep right

All other directions simple turn instructions or none if continuing on primary street.

:? Prepares for 100 lines of ‘keep it simple’…

Or just prepare for a load of UR’s…

Question I would ask is does this give the UR reporter what they suggested which is “left then right at the give way.” I think the answer is “no” because they will just get a “turn left” instruction which is the same as Iain’s simplified version.

IMHO any instruction that gives two instructions is going to be confusing, if I’m told to turn left then keep right I would make the turn and then be looking for the split in the road to do the keep part of the instruction, then realising I’ve gone wrong and am stuck in a narrow lane would reverse back to the crossroads.

What you might be able to do, and I probably haven’t fully thought this through  is to add a short, unnamed primary road segment to the start of each of the streets mapped to give a “keep right or left” instruction for those leaving the primary and heading straight on to either of the streets. Although I have a feeling it wont give any instruction for anyone going straight on from either street onto the primary so still doesn’t improve things for the reporter.

All things considered I’m thinking that the suggestion from iainhouse might be the best, and least confusing. Could I get the primary roads downlocked for me to adjust

Unlocked, let me know when you are done please.

They usually are the best option.

This is where I have trouble with turn instructions since I drive most of the time with it on Alert only. So I normally keep an eye on the map while looking out of the windscreen [emoji2]

Time to do that relock thing

Relocked.
