Yes yes. There he is, the new WME version. Including the ‘lock by rank’ feature where we were waiting for a long time! If everything went well, we can start with deploying the new lock rules, and update current locks in a few days (if Waze can find time for us)
This new version also brings other changes and new features.
Every morning I try to verify if there are area’s with either user and/or system errors. This triggers me to verify the a fairly large area around that error, so that we do not have to return that fast to almost the same spot. The problem is that most errors errors are generated becaused locked by a level 5.
After several months, I understand the mechanism of locking, and I do see a lot of improvement with WME version 1.2 - 17, however it is frustrating and demotivating (certainly for new editors). I feel like I’m loosing interest in going to the waze editor this way.
Hopefully this can be resolved asap, by maybe scripting all level 5 locked roads and locking them onto level 3. (It is not like there are 5000 level 3 editors in Belgium)
Sorry for my slightly negative message - It is more a cry for improvement.
primary street locked to level 2 - hmmm… not my personal favorite, but survivable…
STREETS locked to level 2 — NOOOOO!!! … is this really a good idea? I don’t see the benefit
service roads - automatically changed to streets - maybe better to private roads??
parking lots, pedestrians, privates - locked to level 3 or more ??? (those are the ones that baby editors dare to take their first steps??? …without harming the routering that much )
It’s not the idea to lock them to L2. But existing street segments that are locked, will change to L2.
Primary also not necessarely have to be locked. But there are quite a lot complex situations with primary road. By setting editting level back to rank 1 in the database, it’s just a matter of time
ok, got it - and yeah, the strange recurrent thingies that were locked, better remain locked… sounds ok now
but if all ‘service roads’ become ‘streets’ - the service roads I encountered were private roads (mostly industrial zone) and tow paths (or completely misnamed)
