Chester Marathon on Sunday 7 October 2018 requires a number of road closures – I guess 26 miles of them…
At the same time there’s also a shorter “metric” marathon (a curious concept: 26.2 kilometres not miles) but this is mostly a there-and-back on the later part of the main marathon route.
Event Site: www.chestermarathon.com
Closure details: Residents Information
All roads grouped by time of closure: PDF map pack
Precise road closures: Council TRO
I know that entering these closures is time consuming and something only a select few can do. I’m sure everyone appreciates their efforts. (Even more so, if we all get the alert from a Mega Traffic Event)
All done. Any errors please let me know.
Hi Keith, that is great. And so prompt too! Just the odd niggle
The city walls shouldn’t be closed off
Permalink
Nuns Road/City Walls Road closed 8:00-10:30
Permalink
Souters Lane/The Groves/Old Dee Bridge/Handbridge should be shut from 8:30 -15:45
Permalink
the other section of The Groves is shut 10:45 - 15:45

Confusion from the TRO here. At the top, it says Lower Bridge Street whole length is closed 8:30 - 11:00. But later on, it says the lower portion from Castle Street to Old Dee Bridge is closed 10:45 - 15:45. This section has to be held shut for longer, since the runners come home along The Groves.
Close this 10:45 - 15:45 also:

Shepherd’s Road is closed 9:00-14:00

The closures up A5130 Sandy Lane/Dee Banks/Chester Road/Alford Road are set, but they’re not marked as being part of a MTE, so aren’t showing up there Permalink. I don’t think I can select all the segments and have them in view at once to permalink the segments themselves.
Otherwise, seems good. Would be nice for the MTE to somehow highlight different closure times. Or group them together or something. But that’ll never happen
Thanks for sorting those out Keith. Hopefully any locals will know of the closures (certainly anyone on the closed route will have been informed). I actually think the MTE advance warning from Waze is the most important aspect, since not everyone wants to find out only on the day that their drive is going to be affected.
two tiny niggles, that won’t really affect anyone:
Souters Lane/The Groves should be shut from 8:30 -15:45
Permalink
(but it’s not like it’s a through route, only spectators would try to get down there, and it’s cut off by other closures anyway)
B5130 Dee Banks / Chester Rd aren’t in the MTE
Permalink
(but the closures are in place. And it’s a one-way restriction anyway)
many thanks once again
