We’re excited to announce a major update to the mentoring flow, based directly on your valuable feedback!
These changes will make the process much more efficient for everyone involved.
What?
In February, Manual Mentoring will migrate to the Communities Hub. This transition automates mentee-mentor matching, provides a localized sign-up for new editors, and replaces our existing Google Forms and Sheets with a more efficient, centralized tool.
On February 1, 2026, we will start directing some of the Mentoring requests to the new flow by changing the form’s link in a few of the resources.
Then, during February, we will collect your feedback, and improve based on it. During that time, we will also ask you to start directing mentoring requests to the new flow.
We hope to direct all requests to the new flow by March 1, 2026, and then the Google form will be closed.
A Note for Brazil and the US:
We know your communities use a different mentoring flow, and we will contact you separately about this.
We’ll update you on this thread next week, when we publish the form in the Communities Hub and start directing requests to it.
Thanks,
Anat S. and Dana A., on behalf of the team.
I’m the current and newly appointed Mentoring Coordinator for Brazil, and I’m restructuring our program to implement basic editing and area manager courses, as well as a course for experienced editors aimed at training or refreshing specific editors with levels above 3.
In addition, I’m updating and automating our main mentee tracking spreadsheet, which is used to keep everything organized. After that, I believe we’ll be ready to evaluate the possibility of adopting this new initiative.
I tried to post this yesterday but was unable due to the instability we had with Discuss. Thanks for your patience with this response
Thanks for your questions and for your kind words
Mentors and Mentoring Coordinators will get access to these 2 new reports. The permission system on the Hub allows each person to see reports based on their role.
I apologize for not sharing more details about this - I don’t know it myself I’ll get more information and will share it with you next week.
@GabiruX Thanks for the update! I emailed you separately. Do you use Academy courses to train your new editors? They can be very helpful
During February, we can expect mentoring requests to come from the Mentoring Sheets and the Hub. These are separate requests, so please address both sources.
We’d love to get your feedback, as you start to get requests.
I’ll share news about access to the hub later this week.
We hope to direct all requests to the new flow by March 1, 2026, and then the Google form will be closed.
Could you clarify two points for me? Will the data from this new form go to the same location?
My other question is whether it’s possible that, if the user or editor selects Brazil as the country, they are directed to our form, where we request more information to facilitate contact.
Yes, I really liked it, but I felt there was a lack of explanation about local rules, which would be very useful. To reduce the amount of data, we created a course structure in the form, divided into three parts: a beginners’ course (Basic Editing and Introduction to Area Manager) and a course for experienced editors, those who need refresher training or want to reach higher levels within the community.
It would also be interesting to provide a space on this platform for coordinators to adapt and create courses they consider necessary.
Nope, the new form will trigger an automated email for mentors CCing the Mentoring Coorinator, and the requests will be shown in two new reports on the Communities Hub.
If you decide you don’t want to use the new flow of emails ( ) we can disable the email flow for Brazil and decide that someone from your side pulls the requests from the report on the Hub (maybe via script?) into your own sheet.
Please reply to my email with the additional fields, and we’ll work on adapting the form to your needs. This may take time but we should definitely start Here’s is the new form, to check which other fields you’d like added.
This completes the testing phase - all mentoring requests will now come in through the new form. You should be notified about them over email, and can review them in the hub.
Please continue to share your invaluable feedback and let us know if you’re having any issues with the new flow.
