External providers hidden and edits cause hidden external providers to be deleted

Many places are no longer showing the external provider link, even when they had been linked.

Here are examples and screenshots, showing I had linked them in the past.

I strongly suspect the problem of disappeared Google links isn’t in the WME, but on the server side. I’ve just checked a route to a Google place, which is located far away from the right Waze place and was linked to it. The route lead to the wrong location from Google. Then I assigned anew this and other Google places to the Waze place, and they are shown in WME after reload.

I also checked few other Waze places, and they still have links to Google places.

This is a widespread issue where numerous places have lost their external provider (or hidden as shown here)

So, I just tested re-adding the optical department to a Costco with this bug, and it deleted the hidden external providers on the place.

Before:

After adding Optical Dept as a external provider:

Here’s another example of a place with hidden external providers: https://waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&lat=44.85485&lon=-93.43177&zoomLevel=17&venues=174719425.1746997638.476872

It seems like editing anything else on a bugged place does NOT delete the external providers.

I tested app search and it seems like even though the external providers are linked in the backend, it is NOT bringing me to the Waze Venue but instead the Google Place entry.

FYI - I noted this a week ago in the latest WME prod release thread: New WME v2.326 - #42

Hi @gncnpk,

Thank you for submitting this report. I am opening a related bug for the team so they can investigate the case and proceed with a solution. Could you please share the steps to see the list of edit providers in the console? I tried on my side but couldn’t reproduce it; I can only see the added changes in the place history

Hi @G_W1Z,

I have moved your comment to this bug report to keep everything in one place. Sorry for not posting a reply earlier. We are looking into this issue, and I will provide an update when I have any information from the team.

Nataliia

Hi Everyone,

The team has implemented a fix, so the issue should be resolved now. Could you please keep an eye on it and verify, when you have a chance, that the problem is no longer reproducible?

Thank you in advance!

A new issue has cropped up as a result of the fix. Many places are showing duplicate external providers. Once you delete one, it deletes both.

PL example: https://waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&lat=40.29478&lon=-76.84480&marker=true&zoomLevel=18&venues=185598355.1855655870.4921438

Hi @G_W1Z,
Hi @mikejeep47,

My apologies—I missed your comments. I’ve checked the links and don’t see any duplicates. Are you still seeing examples of problematic behavior?

Regards,
Nataliia

I waited to see if it was still happening. I haven’t seen it continuing to happen. Good news!
