Fellow wazers' icons

When I see a fellow wazer pop-up on my iPhone, I notice that their icon moves incredibly slowly (if at all; one moment they are there, the next they’re gone). Is this normal? Aren’t we supposed to see their icons move in a more “real-time” way? Any insight would be most useful.

BTW: my rank and points have not been updated since 7/7/11. I know the gurus are working on this; just sharing…

For privacy reasons the icons are only updated every couple of minutes.
