Handling PURs

Is there a “best practice for PURs” page?

What to do when:

  • a service station is flagged as “Low quality” or “Wrong details”?
  • a restaurant is flagged “Wrong details” or “Residential”?
  • a car park is flagged “Residential”?

When a place is marked as closed, do you take that on trust, or do you try to verify independently eg by email or phone?

Thanks.

Generally any PUR should be treated like mapping a new Place. You should try to confirm any change of details via the business website or other means. Many PURs are attached to the wrong Place so any Residential requests can usually be rejected. Personally any low quality photo PURs will be assessed on what other images are available for a Place, usually it is the only image or the users fails to provide a better one, so again gets rejected.

As for closed… again you should attempt to verify this, usually via local media reports, as they may just mean the opening hours, it is sometimes better to add [CLOSED] to the title, and Reported closed by user to the description if you are unsure. Be aware that you only options for these PURs is reject or delete.
