Is this a…:
Standard bug
Steps to reproduce this issue:
When redoing the entire numbering of a certain avenue, WME did not allow the operation to be saved, informing that the highlighted location has an invalid house number.
As shown in the attached image, the numbering is correct.

Hi @Jefresongil,
I am getting back to you. The team has checked listed cases.
For the first example the problem is that house number 605 already exists here. You cannot add two house numbers with the same number in the same street.
Same about the second case house number 287 already exists for segment 306098450 id here.
Could you please recheck these information and let me know if you need any assistance to proceed?

Nataliia

Hi Natalia
Sorry but the place I informed does not match the place of the answer. They are different Avenues C. The one I mentioned is in Conjunto Ceará neighborhood, and your answer points to the José Walter neighborhood.

They may be in different neighborhoods but since as far as Waze knows, they are in the same city. Both segments have the same street name, city, state, which you can’t have two HNs on the same street/city/state.

Hi @Jefresongil,
What does ‘neighborhood’ mean in this example? Are they part of the same city?
Thank you.

Hi Natalia!
In this context, “neighborhood” refers to distinct subregions within the same city. In Brazil, it’s very common for large cities to have multiple streets with exactly the same name, not only similar names, but identical ones, located in different neighborhoods of the same municipality.
Unfortunately, as WME doesn’t support a “neighborhood” field in the segment address, it becomes impossible to correctly enter multiple identical street names with the same house number, even when they are valid and located in different neighborhoods. This blocks editors from accurately mapping and also affect routing and user reports.

Hey @daviaraujo93, thank you for your answer and the detailed information. To proceed with further actions, may I ask you and @Jefresongil for the help?
Could you please provide a few examples of streets with house numbers mapped that have identical names and are located in the same city?
I’m gathering more examples to bring this to the team and request possible solution options.
Thank you in advance!

Hi @Nataliia_Staff
The problem occurs when a street with the same name already exists in the same city. Incredibly, in the city of São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil), we have four streets with the same name, according to the city hall, “Rua Rio de Janeiro” (I know it sounds like a joke).
I found 3 of them on the map:
1 - https://waze.com/editor?env=row&lat=-23.88028&lon=-46.64377&marker=true&zoomLevel=19&segments=154513762,154514046
2 - https://waze.com/editor?env=row&lat=-23.54241&lon=-46.66153&marker=true&zoomLevel=18&segments=154563427,154563251,154563193
3 - https://waze.com/editor?env=row&lat=-23.84792&lon=-46.74400&marker=true&zoomLevel=18&segments=154479553,154480530
When I try to add numbers 1 and 2 here in this permalink, an error appears, because numbers 1 and 2 already exist in the other “Rua Rio de Janeiro”. I can only add numbers that do not exist in other segments with the same name, such as number 33, which you can find inserted here in this permalink.

ALê,
Já fiz report sobre isso também aqui em Fortaleza, e a resposta não foi satisfatória.

Hi @alemenezes,
Thank you for the examples and further context, I’ll pass it along to the team.
It’s quite a tricky use case due to the lack of the “neighborhood” field in WME as previously mentioned by @daviaraujo93 Speaking of which, are you aware of any uservoice suggestions which might already have been raised to address this issue?
Meanwhile, I will check with the team if they can think of any feasible options.
Kindest regards,
Olesya

Hi @Olesya-Staff,
The solution would be to include neighborhoods.
We’ve already solved this with a gambiarra* (workaround), including neighborhood names next to street names, as this doesn’t directly affect the search.
Example:
Paulista Avenue (Neighborhood 123)
Paulista Avenue (Neighborhood 456)
*“Gambiarra” is a uniquely Brazilian term that describes an improvised, unconventional, and often low-cost solution to a problem, typically born out of necessity and a lack of proper resources. It represents a form of creative, resourceful problem-solving where functionality is prioritized over aesthetics, often involving “outside the box” thinking. While it can sometimes imply something temporary or “sketchy”, it is also widely recognized as a form of clever, innovative, and resourceful DIY ingenuity.

Thank you for the update @alemenezes “clever, innovative, and resourceful ingenuity” defines the applied gambiarra accurately. I appreciate you sharing all the context. It will be now much better understood by those who are not familiar with bairros
