Legal or Common Practice

The automated checker has people turning right out of Victoria Street into McCaul Street.

I would be inclined to say that this is not legal due to the painted island.

Common practice says that it is clearly done.

I personally believe it should be left as a not allowed turn on the map. What is others opinion on this situation?

Well going by street view, there is not a “No right turn” sign there, so it looks like a normal intersection so it would be ok to turn right.

We would over here in WA, unless signed. But I also see drivers turning right against the signs, especially close to the CBD, latest one was today :frowning:

Just double checked my road rules, appears I was wrong and the turn is allowed: http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/safety/queensland-road-rules/road-rules-refresher/lines.aspx

Definitely a legal turn. In cases similar to this, it would be legal to perform the turn unless there was double lines (close together) in the the middle of the road you’re turning into (with no gap in the lines at the intersection) or there is a sign banning the turn.
