When I’m going between home and work, I really don’t want it to tell me where to turn. I know that already. I like to pick the location so I can see if there are hazards along the way easily, but I don’t need it to talk to me.
You can turn the navigation guidance off.

Keep in mind that if Waze changes your route to avoid traffic you may not be aware of this time saving route improvement if you have the navigation guidance turned off.
My goal is to not have to manually turn it on/off though. I’d like it to realize I’m going between home and work, and that the route chosen is normal, and thus simply stay silent.
If a different route is chosen, or waze has to reroute me along the way, then speak up.
It’s kinda like the joke about Google Maps, “I wish they’d start at step 5. I’m pretty sure I know how to get out of my subdivision already!”
Good luck with that wish list :). It’s like expecting to turn your spouse, significant other and/or kids mouths on and off when you want. If you figure that out, please share.
There’s a little ‘mute’ button in the top-left corner of the main menu.
