Disable Nav Speech, but not other Sounds?

I tried searching, but no luc, my question is probably too opbscure. As far as I can tell, Sounds are either On or Off. Is it possible to use Nav, but without the speech directions, while still hearing the alerts and other noises?

If so, is this something that can be toggled “on the fly” or something that has to be set deep in a config menu somewhere?

During some trips where I am familiar with major parts of the route I prefer to not have the GPS telling me every single little turn (and relying an occasional visual check to see if I should re-route) and I only enable Speech directions when I enter a leg of the trip that I am not familiar with.

There’s a mute button in the top left corner of the main menu. This will silence the navigation, but not the other alerts (I think).

Alternatively, you can set the “Navigation Guidance” to none, which has the same effect.

Oh I thought that button affected all sounds. I will try it later on. I have only used Waze once so far, on my commute this morning and was trying to not to poke around too much when I should be watching the road.

Or don’t use the navigation function.
