I was reading the Locking Policy Wazeopedia and read:
I’ve noticed though that there’s a few places, particularly restaurants (McDonalds), that have been locked to Level 3. Is there a reason? Can I move these down to Lvl 2? Cheers,Alex

You’re right - normally places like McDonald’s wouldn’t be locked to L3.
However the people at Waze HQ ran some scripts and essentially incorrectly renamed most of the McDonald’s in the UK.
So editors have been checking (and correcting) the details for these and then locking them to L3 when they are confirmed as correct.

Many advertised venues are locked to 3 due to us trying to keep a consistent mapping across the country. This works well for Mcdonald’s as it is a popular location and we often get pointless edit requests.
If the brand has been part of the Venue Verification project in the UK then it is likely locked to 3.
As with any other location if you feel is need reducing in lock level you can make this edit along with any other changes to any venue regardless of lock level. Then make a request in the forum for your edit to be approved.
