Mackay city centre has been drawn with all dual lanes. Should these remain that way. There does appear to be parking in the middle? However, a number of them aren’t even joined where they all intersect and there are issues with illegal U-turns. Solutions? Bow tie everything?
Wow. Samh004 has been a busy Wazer. I suppose he has mapped it as per the aerial view, but I would also question, “Is it REALLY necessary?”
I don’t think there is anything in the Wiki about parking lanes in the middle of the road and that means the road has to be split.
Over 90 junction with reverse connections and 252 nodes need to be fixed…
IMO I don’t think it REALLY needs to be split, however I can understand sam’s reasoning.
General consensus on this one by the other editors and we’ll see where we go with it.
There is some nice work done there, shame to lose the work done.
We will lose a lot of data if we just go and delete a lot of the roads.
We currently don’t split some minor/major highways or roads that can qualify for splitting, for various reasons. We can work around the issues they can raise.
I think in this case it would be better to change them back, it would simply that area a lot.
There was a suggestion in another forum that if you join the 2 one-way roads together, and make both of these 2-way, you don’t loose the history data as the segment is not deleted.
The wiki just talks about not losing the house number data I think. I just did one and without even deleting anything just changing it to two way resulted in the average speed changing to 3000+? Then after changing them both to two way and disconnecting opposite ends and joining them together the speeds went to null…
With the speed data I believe it’s a different story, if both roads are setup as A to B for the one way segment, then this doesn’t work. If one is A to B and the other is B to A then I believe no speed data is lost.
Yes, leave the major roads but the streets are less likely to have too much data to lose there in Mackay.
Remember to always double check restrictions as you go, modifications such as these have left broken areas that were previously working before, we’re all guilty of it.
OK see what you think. I selected the segments that had zero speed data as the ones I deleted (when there was one) so some info should have been retained.
The angles on those bow ties could result in a Keep Left instruction for users going straight ahead. Probably a good idea to straighten the approaches.
All the roundabouts need to be re-constructed for consecutive segment ID’s.
OK thanks for that. I have done everything but the soft turns and the roundabouts. Before I do the roundabouts what is the head shed consensus on removing all of those remaining dual lanes?
On the bow ties, for my own info, are those angles ok now?
You forgot to name the roundabouts. They either need a city name or tick the no city box. Tick the no name box as they are not to receive a street name. As they are, they are not routable.
The Junction Node Fixer script works great for roundabouts, sorts the names and soft turns with one press of the Q key whilst one of the nodes are selected.
OK I just tried to redo some of those missing edits but any changes just either don’t take or return an error. I am assuming some sort of database corruption. What has to happen to fix this?
