Waze are now automatically removing inactive AMs after 90 days.
The map above has been updated to exclude AMs that have been recently removed.
There seems to be a discrepancy with WME. For example, in Leicester WME is still showing an AM. https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=0&lon=-1.1029994994263&lat=52.591337937067
Sweet. Simple and exact. I wish that Waze AM Layers would support complexer than the quadrilateral polygons already this century…
Tim, would you mind sharing the know-how?
TIm, do you have any records of who’s been removed? Cause I have my doubts that the 90 day removal is actually working.
No, I don’t.
I did a quick spot check of a few AMs last month, and ones who’ve not edited since 20/Feb/2013 looked to have been removed. Looking again, there seem to be a couple more that have been removed, up to about early March.
However, I did spot one certain AM that I thought had been removed a long time ago…
Just a quick question, when are area managers “demoted” from being AM?
I’ve been inactive for a couple of months, I was area manager of Milton Keynes, and Cambridge in the UK and Gran Canaria in Spain, and now it seems I’m not area manager of none of these regions???
thanks
Waze HQ automatically remove AM areas if an editor hasn’t edited for 90 days. After that you will have to re-apply for any AM area(s).
but my last edit in Cambridge was 16th sept… not quite 90 days yet…
in MK, and Spain, yes, more than 90 days so that’s fair … ![]()
What type of edit was it - can you provide a permalink?
Changing turn restrictions does not update the “last edited” data on segments. It’s possible that, if that was the type of edit you made, it won’t be “visible” to Waze.
We don’t know the precise mechanics Waze use to determine their 90-days figure - or, indeed, if it’s 90 days or 3 months. We just know that it’s a process that seems to run fairly regularly, based on names disappearing from the AM layer.
If we’ve got multiple AM areas, do we need to edit every 90 days within each area, or is it a global countdown that can be reset by making an edit anywhere, AM area or not?
It behaves “globally”. Whether you’re active, or gone.
Hi,
I don’t think so, some of my AM areas are gone.
But then, if you are a CM I suspect that is a moot point… ![]()
Des. . . ![]()
Not if you need additional AM areas to cover borderline regions. CMs were often known to be unable to edit roads in many villages at the country borders  And Waze was never willing to let us fix the borderlines.
But I’m nowhere a CM. Nevertheless, I still do have AM areas where I’ve not been active for at least a year long.
This map is now updated automatically and should exactly match the AM layer in the editor.
:ugeek:
Bumped to remind (or inform newer forumites) of this useful goody. ![]()
Can anyone advise on how long the application process take for Area Managers? I submitted an application 2 weeks ago but have not heard if it has been successful or not. If it’s not successful i’d like some feedback on my edits.
Cheers.

It shouldn’t take too long but does depend on how busy our Country Admins are, I’m sure one of them will get it sorted for you pretty quickly now they’ve been reminded.
Pip
is there anyway of pinning this point to the being of the forum as I look at the map for time to time. I have to search for it.
