Well, he was right . The problem was Hwy 2 aka AH12 aka Mittraphap was disconnected in three places by restricted turns , between Muak Lek and Si Khio. It took several days to find them , what with scrolling 200 kms on the map and waiting for the updates to be built into the map to check.
All those kilometers of freeway were at Automatic(1) lock ! You can guess what happened …
This is a dilemma. Of course the highway system needs lock protection but this protection also means a restriction for local editors to add & connect the local road system. Was it the restricted turns that prevented Waze to suggest the fastest route or the lack of local roads to work around some “breaks” in the highway? Or both?
In other words : do we want to protect the roads that we’ve got or allow easy addition of local roads to the existing system?
The “breaks” , all three, were on the highway itself, due to restricted turns. On the other hand, there are always lots of little roads around, most of them “red” and most of them not connected to the main road even when the main road is not locked.
Anyway, the local editors can ask for unlocks, when needed, as everybody else, or leave the little roads for some higher rank editor to connect.
All they have to do is ask
I agree as well. Think this structure is used in a lot of countries.
And the ramp lock, similar to the highest lock on connected segments, as Paolo suggests here as well.
